Another yet exciting hack for Google Nexus S phone is available to share. Developer called Steven Troughton-Smith has somehow managed to roll out a new hack for Nexus S. The hack describes how you can run Ubuntu OS on Nexus S phone although the hack is not completely successful as the touchscreen won’t work now due to some kernel issues, but it is expected that the developer will fix the issue soon.
The trick is simple as porting Nexus S phone with Ubuntu was made possible with HD2 Ubuntu image (vo.3), dumped into the internal memory of the phone. The hack does ‘not requires any flashing of your phone.
If you feel install Ubuntu on your phone here is a small guide which helps you proceed the installation.
Step 1: Download Ubuntu HTC HD2 version i.e 0.3
Step 2: Copy the ‘rootfs.ext2’ file and paste in your Nexus S folder called Ubuntu.
Step 3: With the help of fastboot, boot the following image:

Step 4: Using ADB, now download and paste this file
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8657343/xorg.conf to etc/X11/xorg.conf and reboot Ubuntu. You are ready to startup with Ubuntu screen.
As mentioned the touchscreen is not working, meanwhile you can atleast give a try to Ubuntu from Nexus S phone. The touchscreen issue will be soon resolved, stay tuned with us to get more information.
