Astronomers have produced the most accomplished 3D map of our universe to recent date which surprisingly consumed 10 years to build. The image you see below is the scanning of night sky near infrared light and consuming data from the Two-Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) Redshift Survey (2MRS).
This elaborated masterpiece map of our universe demonstrates all apparent structures intent on 380 million light-years, including approximately 45,000 of our adjacent galaxies, while the diameter of the Milky Way is calculated as 100,000 light-years across.
The piece of information stated above was taken by two ground based telescopes namely:
- The Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory on Mt.Hopkins Ariz
- The Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in Chile
