NEW YORK – July 11, 2011 – Emirates, the Dubai-based international airline carrier, announced today its new Destination Radio App for iPhone and iPod touch is now available on the App Store. The app provides travelers with the enjoyment of music from more than 97 countries around the world. The radio stations are available to listen to from the six continents that Emirates services worldwide.
“Destination Radio is more than an app that enables travelers to explore new music; it shares the language, ethnicity and traditions of some of Emirates’ most diverse and exotic destinations with new and existing passengers,” said Jim Baxter, Emirates’ Vice President for North America. “Listening to local radio is an immersive experience and this app gives travelers the ability to explore a destination and its culture before they travel, find inspiration for future trips or reconnect with the comforts of home. Over the past year, Emirates team members on six continents have played a role in selecting the best local radio stations that travelers and expats would take pleasure in.”
iPhone and iPod touch users can discover new music without having to manage playlists or download additional content, simply by tapping on the application’s map and selecting a destination and radio station of choice. Once a radio station is selected, live streaming radio from that locale will play, along with the current time and weather from that area. The app also includes a convenient one-touch access to Emirates’ mobile website and phone number to easily find additional information on Emirates’ flights and services.
Emirates currently serves 113 cities around the globe with a young and technologically advanced fleet of 152 wide-bodied aircraft that are equipped with industry-leading comforts in the air.
