Facebook Partnership With Skype

Skype is considered as the best software for video chatting and voice calling.It has been successful all over the world. But recently the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg has announced Facebook’s partnership with Skype which is sharing its video chatting feature with Facebook. Using Facebook Video Chat Feature

Using the video chat on Facebook is as simple as logging in on Facebook. All you have to do is find the video chat icon. It appears on the top right corner of the chat box. Click on that icon and Facebook will ask you to download and install the software needed to use the feature. If the computer asks for permission to use the webcam and microphone, simply give access. When the installation procedure is done the Facebook video chat will automatically begin. If it does not start, try clicking on the video chat icon again. A request to the person with whom you want to video chat will be sent for approval. After the acceptance from the other person the video chat will start and you can enjoy chatting for as long as you want to. Facebook’s new user interface called Timeline was the popular story a few months back and still is, however the new layout was not introduced for public accept for developers but it seems everyone became a developer for a time being to gain access to Facebook timeline.

The story got more popular when we shared some of the interesting timeline design covers which was just impressive to grab one’s attention. But this layout does not suites every one style and they felt uncomfortable with it.  So if you have activated Timeline for your profile there is no official way to revert back your profile settings to previous layout. De-Activate Facebook Timeline: 

Internet Explorer 7 browser luckily does not support Facebook Timeline feature and displays old layout. To get this trick working all you need to do is fake the web-browser’s “User Agent” string to non-supported browser, however this hack will mess up your facebook layout with page-formatting problems and a big white gap appears on page heading section.

You have all these old photos on Facebook that no one ever sees. Why? Because they fall off the wall and out of your life. Or, more concisely: "Timeline is the story of your life," Zuckerberg said.

Instead of showing just the last five minutes of your life, or even the last fifteen minutes, Timeline’s goal is to show your whole life, from birth to now, on one page. How do they plan on doing that? Well, part of it is your input. You pick the photos that are important and chose to enlarge them, mark them, or delete negative comments. Too much work? Don’t worry; Facebook will do most of it for you automatically. Key moments, chosen by a robot, will highlight the years of your past.

Why would they create Timeline? They’re thinking a step ahead. Google+ is looking to encroach on their territory, and was doing a fairly good job of it until now. The Timeline application revolutionizes the way social media look and feels, turning your life into art rather than a chart. Who wouldn’t want their Facebook page to feel more like a reflection of themselves? It also paves the way for the future, which is a bit scary.

The future of Timeline is this- report your life, from birth until now. Your baby pictures, your first steps, your first kiss, all recorded and catalogued and kept for posterity in one convenient, attractive program. It’s ‘This is Your Life’ for the new millennium. Best of all, you control it. So your life is more than just a pile of paperwork; it’s a reflection of not just what it is, but what you want it to be; what is important to you, your family, and your social network.

Facebook latest feature Timeline is going on its way for developers, the actual reaction from the audience will be experienced when the feature gets public, but until now many users are curious to know how to implement Timeline to their profile.

Well enabling Timeline early is not a difficult task but its not at all straight forward either, as the Timeline is only available to for open graph developers, even you can be one of them, just follow the tutorial which explains you how to make your profile a Timeline.

Things To Remember:

• You probably won’t do this until your are actually a developer, still proceeding? then expect some bugs.
• At first your Timeline will only be visible to you, it would go public automatically after few days ahead.
• Your Timeline will be disabled if you login from different machine, you can get back your timeline (but only after following this step) by navigating to  http://www.facebook.com/YOURUSERNAMEHERE?sk=timeline
• You need to have a verified account for one of the step. Verified account means linking your credit card or verifying your phone number with account.

Enabling Timeline On Your Profile:

Step 1: Login to your account.

Step 2: Enter into developer mode, if you haven’t type ‘developer‘ in search bar, click on first link which should be an app.

Step 3: You will be redirected to developer app page, if not click the developer app from left tool-bar.

Step 4: Now create an app (it won’t actually be live for every one to use). Name your app with an eye-catching display name and namespace. Agree the Platform Privacy Agreement, in this step you need a verified account.

Step 5: Make sure you are in your app settings page, as your app name would be displayed on top of the page.

Step 6: Search for ‘Open Graph’, click and "Get Started using Open Graph" link.

Step 7: Now create a sample to test the action on your app, like ‘watch‘ a ‘movie‘ or ‘play‘ a ‘game‘

Step 8: This will navigate you to action type configuration page. Change some default settings like changing tense from ‘watch‘ to ‘watched‘, click thorough all the existing three settings page.

Step 9: Have patience, and wait for 2-3 minutes.

Step 10: Check back your Facebook home now, at the top of the page Timeline would be waiting for you.

And finally you are done, view your Timeline now, make a screenshot of your Timeline and share among your friends. Hopefully the steps above won’t cause any problem implementing it, but if you still have trouble make your voice shout by commenting below

The annual Facebook f8 conference held a few hours back where Mark announced an interesting and eye-catching feature called Timeline, which aims to revamp your Facebook appearance to whole new design as it is now "the evolution to your profile."

Timeline has been designed in-order to preserve all your happenings in your life enabling user to highlight events, snapshots, random updates so that they don’t get hidden behind your most recent updates. The timeline page could even be used to display your whole life right from your birth until your marriage, all at one glance. looks amazing !!

Well its up to you what you want to share or how you want to design your timeline, the overall control is with the user.

"Imagine if there was an easy way to rediscover the things you shared, and collect all your best moments in a single place," Sam Lessin, product manager at Facebook, commented. "With timeline, now you have a home for all the great stories you’ve already shared. They don’t just vanish as you add new stuff."

Mark Zuckerberg said at the conference: "We want to design a place that feels like your home. Where you tell story online is very personal. You spend a lot of time creating it. We want to make Timeline a place you’re proud to call your home. It’s a completely new aesthetic for Facebook. It gives you the ability to curate all your stories so you can express who you really are," as reported on Huffington Post’s live blog.

I am not sure how many of you would  like this feature sharing your story to the world but although its interesting.

Hey wait a second now you don’t search for activating Timeline in your profile because the feature is beta until now and will be public in a couple of months ahead.

The beta version of Skype in now available for download bringing up a good feature within the software. The latest beta version updates now lets you chat with you Facebook friends using same Skype software. If you were just exploring a Facebook messenger sort of software which lies outside your browser then Skype update is a good option for you.

All you have to do is download and install Skype 5.5 version update and link you Facebook account with Skype. After successful linking a new Facebook tab will show all you online friends, in order to begin chatting just click the name and select “send an IM” to start chat session.
