Picture the scene. It’s 2010. Samsung’s new Galaxy S has proven to be flashy but full of bugs, and the iPhone 4 has decided that it doesn’t like left-handed people. Out of the shadows, a new(ish) firm unleashes a sleek sexy new smartphone that took the best bits from both competitors, whilst working perfectly and not discriminating against southpaws. The Desire was absolutely huge. How, then, can HTC’s latest model compete with the current market? The HTC One X. Will it get the job done?

The first undoubted plus of the One X is the power that eminates from the processing. With the first quad-core processor to be included in a smartphone, the One X operates with a true smoothness that really can’t be matched by anything outside of the tablet market. Whether you’re viewing the latest YouTube videos or reading up on your e-books, there is a fluidity in operation here that really can’t be matched.

Image: Laptopmag

Secondly, the new integration of Beats technology is almost illegally exciting. With doctor Dre’s headphones to be found on every third head in the UK and the US, the inclusion of a pair with every One X is a seriously big deal. What’s even cooler is the integration of the technology, meaning that with the press of a button, the sound going through the headphones is instantly improved tenfold. It’s a superb feature, and one that will make the One X an instant favorite amongst audiophiles.

The screen is also excellent: quite possibly the finest one we’ve seen on a mobile device thus far in terms of clarity and life-like display. At 4.7 inches, it’s a whopper in terms of mobile screens, using a 720p display in order to make it’s presence felt. Whilst it doesn’t quite have the same beautiful color display of the AMOLED screens that are favored by Samsung, its clarity is well worth the slight sacrifice.

Are there flaws? Well, yes, there are. Firstly, the lack of removable storage (what I like to call ‘the Apple sin’) is a real bugbear. Essentially, this leaves you completely stuck with what you’ve got, and rules out the smaller HD models for anyone who likes to keep movies and music on their phones. Bad show indeed.

Overall, though, it seems hard to argue with the HTC One X. As long as you’re able to get around it’s fairly substantial bulk (that screen size comes at a cost), it’s a superb, sleek and easy-to-use piece of technology. Good work.

Chinese mobile phone manufacturer HTC has, for a long time now, enjoyed huge sales success in the Eastern markets. They were unable to transfer this success over into the western markets though. That is until the last couple of years, when phones such as the brilliant HTC Wildfire and especially the hugely successful HTC Desire and Desire HD were released. These have attracted attention and sold in huge numbers all around the world.

For a while now we have all been wondering what HTC had in store for this year. There have been a few announcements in the first few months of 2011, including the recent news that they will soon bring out their first tablet computer but it is smart phone news we want though and few will be disappointed to hear that HTC have announced the release of a new, high end smart phone, the HTC Sensation.

This new phone will head HTC’s summer catalogue of phones and it looks as if it could be a beauty. The Sensation has a dual core, 1.2GHz processor which apparently runs apps and widgets twice as fast as previous HTC smart phones and will mean that you can multitask without your phone annoyingly slowing down to the speed of an anemic snail.

HTC Europe boss Florian Seiche has been trumpeting the media aspects of his phone as HTC joins the growing list of manufacturers to focus on this area, saying: ‘Video, gaming and reading books have become more popular with consumers, turning their smartphones into pocket-sized multimedia centres, new superphones have to be designed with that new reality in mind.

A new feature that falls into this multimedia category will be the HTC Watch app which will allow you to download and stream movies to your phone and watch them wherever you want. Pretty great stuff really and we will see in May, when the phone hits UK stores, whether customers will respond to it positively.

If you’re looking for some great deals on contract phones, then visit Phones4u.co.uk and browse their packages on handsets such as the HTC Sensation.

Since the release of the Apple iPhone three years ago, Microsoft is probably the worst to suffer from the competition. The Windows 7 Phone Series is an attempted comeback on the part of Microsoft to compete against the current market. They are throwing away everything that has gone before and coming up with completely new ideas and a fresh new interface. This is designed around ‘hubs’; a home-like screen that brings together apps and documents following a certain theme. Some of the great features this phone will have to go with the great OS are the five megapixel camera and flash, 256MB RAM with 8GB flash for storage, light sensor, proximity sensor and DirectX9 accelerated GPU. Microsoft has set out to launch the phone in November.

HTC have announced their model called the HTC 7 Pro, which has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, 3.6" display screen, a five megapixel camera with HD capabilities, 3.5G support, Wi-Fi and GPS. It has a 1GHz processor and 448MB of RAM combined with 8GB internal flash memory.

The model has been said by the Sprint network to be available early 2011 in the US but unfortunately no news for the rest of us! However, on a brighter note the new LG Optimus 7 and 7Q windows 7 phones are said to be available in 35 countries worldwide and has just been released! The LG Optimus 7 and Optimus 7Q phone, like most Windows phones has three buttons on the front, back button, windows button and search button. The difference in these two phones is simply the screen size and a QWERTY keyboard.

The Optimus 7 is a tablet style smartphone with a 3.8" display and the Optimus 7Q has a 3.5" inch display, but comes with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Both of the models have a five megapixel camera with flash, 512MB of RAM, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 16GB internal flash memory and a large 1500 mAh battery.

The HDD cellphone conception was cheered by HTC smartphone designed by NAK Design. HDD is a smartphone which is designed in such a way that it can handle dual operating system on it, you just have to plug the HDD smartphone with your computer/laptop and follow the instructions. You have a choice to either switch between Windows Phone 7 or enjoy Android 2.2 Froyo.

The HDD smartphone concept was grabbed from HTC Touch Diamond as it also features the same screen rotation. HDD smartphone is not just a phone it is a complete multimedia gadgets as it has a 10 mega pixel camera to save your precious life moments in great quality.

On the back is 10 MP camera, and the front camera can be used for video calls. HDD smartphone has 32GB of internal memory, it is a Wi-Fi capable and much more.

After the release of new HTC smartphones i.e HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z the previous week in UK we came across an exciting features which was the Fast Boot mode, allowing you to make quick calls and check email by reducing the time taken to complete the boot-up sequence. This is an exciting feature.

As compared to other Android powered devices, in general Android powered devices takes at least a minute or two in order to completely boot up the device, but HTC’ Fast Boot allows device to be functional in less than three seconds.

At first i was thinking that this feature was result of new Snapdragon 2nd-generation processor, but the reality was hidden under a smart software package. Yes the Fast Boot is enabled with software not the hardware. Hackers have successfully ported the new Sense UI ROM from Desire HD to the previous Droid Incredible and were able to introduce the Fast Boot technology.

Droid-Life have just flashed the ROM on his Incredible to show really how fast the booting time is which was achieved from an older device. Apparently the phone does not power’s off itself completely but it places itself in somewhat Sleep mode which helps the quick boot in action.

The most interesting item in the spec list is the support of T-Mobile USA which can run on 3G frequency at 1700 MHz, this proves that T-Mobile will be launching HTC HD 7 formerly in US market. As expected earlier, the phone has a 4.3-inch TFT touchscreen display that encourages a WVGA (480 x 800) pixel resolution, further it has a 1 Ghz Qualcomm QSD8250 processor family inside to achieve gain enhanced and better performance levels.

It has a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor to light up the device and extract the most extreme capabilities the device can deliver along with a 576MB on-board RAM. Further for multimedia purpose it has a 5MP camera with a dual LED flash light which supports 720p high definition video recording. There is 8GB of internal fixed memory which cannot be extended (not confirmed).

According to a leaked documentation from German operator O2, HTC HD 7 is expected to get official on 18th October the next month.
