I have recently jailbreak my iPod Touch 4G to thretered iOS 5.1 and it went successful (a complete tutorial of the process will soon be published). After your device has been jailbroken, Installous is one of the essential Cydia apps which should be installed.

An Installous is an app which allows you to download cracked apps right on your idevices, an updated version of Installous 4.4.2 is now compatible with iOS 5/5.0.1/5.1.

Below mentioned is a step by step guide how you can install Installous 4.4.2 on iPhone, iPod or iPad running on iOS 5 or later versions.

Step 1: Make sure you have a jailbroken idevice ready in front of you.

Step 2: Launch Cydia on your idevice.

Step 3: On Cydia, tap “Manage” button and then “Sources”.

Step 4: Tap on “Edit” button and then “Add” button from right corner of the screen.

Step 5: In a windows just add the url http://cydia.hackulo.us , and tap on “Add Source”.

Step 6: Tap the search tab and then type installous in search field, select Installous 4 from the search result.

Step 7: Now tap “Install” and “Confirm” button to proceed to installation of the app. At last once installation gets complete restart spring board, and you are done.

The personal assistant app in iPhone 4S was just incredible, however many of us have their experience with Siri on iPhone 4S but what about the older iPhones, iPod Touch could they ever get Siri on their devices? Or have to purchase iPhone 4S particularly for Siri.

Well we love to have been evolving in some tricks where we can get these things running quietly well particularly for those devices for the app was not designed. I would like to say great thanks to an iPhone hacker who tweeted the story of successful porting of Siri on iPhone 4 & iPod Touch 4G.

The hacker expressed his tweet as “Actually, it just worked,” just to let the world know that his experiment was successful porting Siri to iPhone 4, he further expressed that Siri will soon be available for other iPhone/iPod versions too.

To port Siri on your iPhone 4/iPod Touch 4G all you need to have a jailbroken device, next copy the app onto your device, the iPhone4/iPod 4 can easily call up Siri and more important it can also connect to Siri servers. The app seems to be working perfect without any delays, we will be updating you guys with a post how to performing this porting of Siri on your iPhone 4/iPod 4G,  stay tuned until then.  

A guy at 9to5mac interviewed the developer/hacker for iPhone4/iPod Touch, Steven Troughton-Smith answering few questions about the hack.

Mark: Do you ever see Siri showing up in Cydia (or another jailbreak store) for non natively supported devices?

Steven: No, I could not be a part of that. I have no doubts that others will package this up and distribute it quasi-illegally, or try and sell it to people. I am only interested in the technology and making it work; proving that it works and works well on the iPhone 4 and other devices

Mark: So, you also got Siri working on the fourth-generation iPod touch, how is that working out?

Steven: We got chpwn’s iPod touch up and running with Siri after proving it works on my iPhone 4. Unfortunately the microphone on the iPod is nowhere near as good as the iPhone – you will notice that the Siri level meter hardly moves when you talk to it. While it does work, you have to speak loudly and clearly to the iPod.

When iOS 5 update was made public, i was excited that now my iPod Touch 4G would also have the personal assistant app called Siri running on it, but excitement ended when i didn’t find any Siri app on iOS 5 update. I made a small research and got to know that Siri app is available with latest iPhone 4S. But what about other idevices would they could ever have Siri?

No matter if Apple haven’t released Siri for entire device, it seems it is possible that at least for now we can get Siri on iPhone 4. The confirmation tweet was found from popular jailbreak developer, iH8snOw – the actual guy who made possible Siri on iPhone 4.

Its much clear that Siri is not just particularly for iPhone 4S, else it can run on iPhone 4 as well. But after watching the video it seems Siri is at least working on iPhone 4 but it is not running smoothly, there is a much delay operating it have a look:

Hope fully the iPhone voice control Siri app will soon be ported on other idevices including iPod Touch, hope so the developers get success in running Siri like butter on iPhone 4 just as in iPhone 4s.

Apple have just release iOS 5 beta 6 update and iTunes iOS 5 beta 6 for upgrades applicable on iPhone 4, iPhones 3GS, iPad 1, iPad 2 and also iPod 3G/4G. The recent updated beta release improves stability performance of iOS operating system and also fixes many number of bugs.

As there was a recent update for iOS 5 beta 4 and iTunes 10.5 beta 4 however many issues were resolved but still it is in beta phase means development is still in progress and somewhere else you could find issues. If you are still interested in upgrading your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2,iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4G/3G than you must need to update iTunes to 10.5 beta 4, this is a prerequisite for this update.

Also you need to first update your iOS to iOS 5 beta 2 as beta 3 and beta 4 supports iTunes 10.5 beta 4. Moreover up till now there is no Untethered jailbreak tool available for iOS 5 beta 4, the only way to jailbreak your device is with Tethered jailbreak tool preferably Redsnow, which have been recently updated for Windows and Mac by iPhone Dev Team.

Update #4: In conjunction with iOS5 beta4 being released to iOS developers, redsn0w 0.9.8b4 is now available for jailbreak app developers (point the b4 redsn0w at the b4 IPSW).  Remember, it’s a tethered jailbreak right now so you’ll need to use redsn0w to boot into a jailbroken state at each power cycle.

NOTE: It appears that by design, the OTA update that became available starting with iOS 5 beta4 will *not* be automatically applied to jailbroken devices.  That’s a relief to those who don’t want to lose their jailbreak via OTA pushes. If you’re jailbroken, you’ll need to use the standard iTunes method to get to iOS 5 beta4.

Searching for most recent version of RedsnOw? iPhone Dev Team have just released the updated version of most popular jalibreaking software RedsnOw 0.9.8b1 for both windows and mac users. At their initial release the software was only available for mac users only but now windows users can also grab their copy.

The official released of redsnOw 0.9.8.b1 supports iPhone 4/3G, iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4G/3G, surprisingly the updated is not supported with iPad 2 so a little disappointment for iPad 2 users. What the dev team speaks about their release check it out:

Since Apple now provides Windows iTunes 10.5 for iOS5 and iCloud developers, it’s no longer the case that only Mac owners can legitimately activate their devices.  We now provide a Windows version of redsn0w for those developers (only!).

UNLOCKERS AND THOSE PRESERVING THEIR UNLOCKABLE BASEBANDS SHOULD STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS! You will very likely lose your unlockable baseband if you try to install iOS 5.

THIS IS A TETHERED JAILBREAK ONLY! No new exploits are being exposed with this jailbreak (it uses geohot’s limera1n bootrom exploit), but that comes at a cost.  You will need to use redsn0w to “Just boot tethered now”  to be able to use many things, including Cydia and Safari.  If you see a white icon for Cydia, or if Cydia or Safari crash when you open them, it’s because you didn’t boot tethered.

IF YOU HAVE THE 06.15 BASEBAND ON YOUR 3GS…this redsn0w will get you past the iTunes restore error you’ll get when using the stock IPSW (nobody other than those with the 06.15 baseband should be going anywhere near the stock IPSW!).

The way redsn0w works, you will very likely be able to use this on upcoming iOS5 betas, just by continuing to point redsn0w at the 5.0b1 IPSW.  So keep that IPSW handy!
